Dear readers and Facebook friends, more than likely, you already know that today we are celebrating International Women’s Day. Since I am a woman, an animal lover (as you can see from the pictures I posted), and a scientist, I decided to recognize primatologist Dian Fossey for her valiant efforts to save wildlife, especially the Rwandan mountain gorillas. When I learned that she was brutally murdered with machetes in her Rwandan forest camp on December 26, 1985, I actually cried. Why would somebody kill a caring, generous, gentle soul? And who was responsible? I hope that someday my questions will be answered.
